More than 50 interested participants arrived at Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof on 21st of October 2011, the place where the Study Group Vienna of the German Society of Oral Implantology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Orale Implantologie - DGOI) has been initiated under the direction of Dr. Harald Fahrenholz. Therefore, the organisers had efficiently met the information needs of many dentists when choosing the topic “Immediate Implant Placement and Immediate Restoration”. |

The manager of the Study Group Dr. Harald Fahrenholz welcomed the guests and right at the beginning offered in-depth insights into the operating principles as well as the quality standards of the DGOI. Subsequently, guest speaker Dr. Georg Bayer explained in detail and by reference to several cases and surgery videos the opportunities and limitations of immediate implant placement with simultaneous restoration. Based on several examples he also talked about the influence team spirit and profound vocational education and training of dental surgeons, dental technicians and qualified dental assistants have on the successful application of a quality-oriented oral implantology in daily practice. With the interesting presentation of the highly topical issue Dr. Bayer attracted the special attention of the audience and stimulated a lively discussion. Finally, Dr. Fahrenholz summarised the highly positive findings of the event with visible satisfaction and announced the next symposium for spring 2012. The Study Group Vienna plans an intensive exchange of expertise twice a year as well as the organisation of workshops. | ||||||
